The Ampol State of Origin Series is returning to Melbourne in 2024 for the all-important Game II. Witness Australia’s greatest sporting rivalry in the country’s biggest and most iconic arena, the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Let us take care of your travel arrangements to Melbourne this June, so that you can be there for all of the action.

Our packages to the 2024 Ampol State of Origin Game 2 in Melbourne include;
- Return Air New Zealand ‘Seat & Bag’ airfares departing AKL/WLG/CHC/ZQN to Melbourne on Tuesday 25th June, returning on Thursday 27th June
- Return airport to accommodation transfers
- 2 night’s accommodation at the 4-Star Shadow Play by Peppers Hotel
- Gold match tickets to State of Origin Game 2 at The MCG (upgrades available)
- Free public transport to and from The MCG
- Cover More Travel Insurance
Plus there is the option to upgrade to TryZone or Diamond match tickets or staying a few extra nights in Melbourne. You name it and we can sort it!
For this package you are looking at $2,000 per person, based on two people, ex-AKL and sharing a 1-Bedroom Apartment. Prices can vary depending on numbers, departure city and optional extras, as always you can personalise this package to suit.

What You Need To Know
Flights
While our package pricing is for flights departing from AKL/WLG/CHC/ZQN and flying direct to Melbourne, we can add on regional connecting flights, if required. Our package includes Air New Zealand ‘Seat & Bag’ airfares, which includes 7kg of carry-on baggage, 23kg checked in luggage and in-flight entertainment (excluding movies). You may wish to upgrade to ‘The Works’ fares, which include a full meal and beverage service, as well as full inflight entertainment (including movies). Premium Economy or Business Class upgrade options are available if flying ex-Auckland.
Accommodation
We prefer to use the 4-Star Shadow Play by Peppers Hotel in Melbourne. They offer apartment style accommodation right in the heart of Southbank and are a 35 minute walk (or short tram ride) to The MCG. Take your choice from;
- 1-Bedroom Deluxe Apartment (Queen bed)
- 2-Bedroom Deluxe Apartment (King bed & Queen bed or Queen bed & two single beds)
Tickets
Our packages include Gold match tickets to the 2024 State of Origin at The MCG, although there is the option to upgrade to TryZone or Diamond tickets.
Transfers
Included in the package are transfers from Melbourne International Airport to the Shadow Play by Peppers Hotel and from the hotel back to Melbourne Airport. Free public transport to and from The MCG is also included, just by showing your match ticket.

We include Cover More Essentials Travel Insurance with our packages. If you already have made arrangements for travel insurance, let us know. If you wish to know more about our Cover More Travel Insurance, let us know and we can e-mail you a brochure.
We do have some flexibility with travel dates and package inclusions, so if something doesn’t quite suit you, let us know and we can try to cater the package to suit your personal requirements.
